וְהַפַּחֹות הָרִאשֹׁנִים אֲשֶׁר־לְפָנַי הִכְבִּידוּ עַל־הָעָם וַיִּקְחוּ מֵהֶם בְּלֶחֶם וָיַיִן אַחַר כֶּסֶף־שְׁקָלִים אַרְבָּעִים גַּם נַעֲרֵיהֶם שָׁלְטוּ עַל־הָעָם וַאֲנִי לֹא־עָשִׂיתִי כֵן מִפְּנֵי יִרְאַת אֱלֹהִים׃

Prijašnji namjesnici, moji prethodnici, bili su narodu težak teret. Uzimali su od njih za jelo i vino svaki dan četrdeset šekela srebra. I područni činovnici njihovi tlačili su narod. Ja tako nijesam činio iz straha pred Bogom.
