Kad su bili obišli od njega - ostaviše ga u teškoj bolesti - , urotiše se proti njemu dvorani njegovi radi krvava djela na sinu svećenika Jehojade i ubiše ga u postelji njegovoj. Tako umrije, i pokopaše ga u gradu Davidovu. Ali ga ne sahraniše u grobnici kraljevskoj.
