וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל־מֹשֶׁה הִנְּךָ שֹׁכֵב עִם־אֲבֹתֶיךָ וְקָם הָעָם הַזֶּה וְזָנָה אַחֲרֵי אֱלֹהֵי נֵכַר־הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר הוּא בָא־שָׁמָּה בְּקִרְבֹּו וַעֲזָבַנִי וְהֵפֵר אֶת־בְּרִיתִי אֲשֶׁר כָּרַתִּי אִתֹּו׃

Tada reče Gospod Mojsiju: "Eto, ti ćeš sad počinuti s ocima svojim. Tada će se ovaj narod podići i činit će u svojoj sredini preljubu s tuđim bogovima zemlje, u koju ide. On će me ostaviti i prelomit će zavjet moj, što sam ga sklopio s njim.
