וְהַיָּמִים אֲשֶׁר־הָלַכְנוּ מִקָּדֵשׁ בַּרְנֵעַ עַד אֲשֶׁר־עָבַרְנוּ אֶת־נַחַל זֶרֶד שְׁלֹשִׁים וּשְׁמֹנֶה שָׁנָה עַד־תֹּם כָּל־הַדֹּור אַנְשֵׁי הַמִּלְחָמָה מִקֶּרֶב הַמַּחֲנֶה כַּאֲשֶׁר נִשְׁבַּע יְהוָה לָהֶם׃

Vrijeme putovanja našega od Kadeš-Barnea do prijelaza našega preko potoka Zereda potraja trideset i osam godina. Sav naraštaj ljudi za vojsku bio je međutim izumro u taboru, kao što im je bio Gospod zaprijetio zakletvom.

A vremena za koje idosmo od Kadis-Varnije pa dokle prijeđosmo preko potoka Zareda, bješe trideset i osam godina, dokle ne izumrije u okolu sav onaj naraštaj, ljudi za vojsku, kao što im se bješe zakleo Gospod.
