וַיֹּאמֶר שָׁאוּל פֻּצוּ בָעָם וַאֲמַרְתֶּם לָהֶם הַגִּישׁוּ אֵלַי אִישׁ שֹׁורֹו וְאִישׁ שְׂיֵהוּ וּשְׁחַטְתֶּם בָּזֶה וַאֲכַלְתֶּם וְלֹא־תֶחֶטְאוּ לַיהוָה לֶאֱכֹל אֶל־הַדָּם וַיַּגִּשׁוּ כָל־הָעָם אִישׁ שֹׁורֹו בְיָדֹו הַלַּיְלָה וַיִּשְׁחֲטוּ־שָׁם׃

Tada zapovjedi Saul: "Raziđite se među ljude i recite im: Svaki neka donese k meni vola svojega ili ovcu svoju i neka zakolje ovdje! Onda možete jesti, a da ne griješite proti Gospodu jedući s krvlju. Svaki od ljudi donese komad stoke, što mu je bio pri ruci, još one noći i ondje zaklaše.
